We should start looking at African fashion – Lawyer Jantuah comments on ministers’ attire

Lawyer Kwame Jantuah, speaking on Joy Prime during an interview with Kpepko Maxwell Justice (KMJ) monitored by MyNewsGH, shared his perspective on the recent swearing-in of ministers by President John Dramani Mahama.

Jantuah addressed several observations, including his thoughts on African fashion and the president’s advice to the newly appointed ministers.

“Yesterday, almost all those who were sworn in—the ministers—were in Western suits,” he said. “I was counting and hoping to see someone wearing African attire, but they all came out in the same style. You see, we should start looking at our African fashion. It helps everybody, and the president does this too. It builds the fashion industry.”

Jantuah lamented the absence of traditional African outfits, noting that showcasing African fashion could add vibrancy and identity to such ceremonies.

“I was expecting them to be wearing some beautiful, politically styled African suits or something colorful. But, not even one of them did. Well, it’s early days yet; we’ll get there,” he added optimistically.

Shifting focus to the president’s address to the ministers, Jantuah praised Mahama’s remarks. “The president’s advice was spot on. He reminded the ministers to serve with humility because the power they hold comes from the ordinary Ghanaian people,” he stated.

Reflecting on the president’s insistence on accountability, Jantuah reiterated, “He talked about asset declaration and made it clear that corruption in any form will not be tolerated.

The message was simple: serve with humility, stay accountable, and remember that arrogance won’t be accepted.”

President Mahama’s swearing-in ceremony, coupled with his call for humility and ethical governance, has drawn widespread attention, with political analysts and citizens alike weighing in on its significance.
