The cost of being the other woman

Being the other woman, a mistress or side chick comes with a cost. Many young ladies mistakenly believe that such a role is an easy path to economic freedom and an extravagant lifestyle.

Money is good, and everyone desires financial security. But sacrificing your dignity and freedom in a relationship that makes you feel second-class and the cause of someone’s marital woes is not commendable.

As humans, we want to belong, feel loved, accepted, prioritized, and important. Being a mistress or side chick does not guarantee that. Knowing you are the “other woman” can erode your self-worth and make you feel like a second choice—a feeling that money cannot take away.

For fear of the married man losing his marriage, many side chicks are kept in secret or in the dark, leading to feelings of isolation and loneliness. Such feelings won’t make you feel like you are with someone who is truly yours. It’s like you are harbouring a stolen item.

Having a child for him is not the same as getting married to him. Buying properties for you does not make him your husband. He might be having conflicts in his relationship, but that does not take away his commitment to his wife and family.

The cost of being the other woman is very expensive, and no financial or physical needs can take away what you stand to lose.

In conclusion “A beautiful woman lacking discretion and modesty is like a fine gold ring in a pig’s snout.” – Proverbs 11:22 (TLB).
