Assafuah threatens to sue gov’t if Ghanaians employed after Dec.7 are sacked

Member of Parliament for Old Tafo Vincent Ekow Assafuah has threatened to sue the government if it lays off workers who were added to the payroll after December 7, 2024.

According to him, the government has no right to engage in such an action as it’s unconstitutional.

Speaking on Accra-based Adom TV on January 24, 2025, he noted that the chief of staff has, through a letter, demanded from the various government agencies present to him the list of persons added to their payroll.

“Most of these young people have been with these government agencies since October. However, you know how these agencies work. They may have been added after December 7, 2024, because of how things are done.

So just because they were added after December 7 does not mean you have to sack them If such a thing happens, I will be one of the people who will take this matter to court and make sure their rights are being protected,” he said while speaking on Adom TV.
