Volta Region’s pristine beauty is a blessing in disguise – Mahama

President John Dramani Mahama, during the launch of his ‘Thank You‘ tour in the Volta Region, acknowledged the area’s unique blessings and shared his vision for its development.

Speaking passionately about the region’s potential, Mahama highlighted its pristine environment, tourism prospects, and infrastructure needs.

“The Volta Region may not have mineral resources, but that is also a blessing in disguise,” he began.

“This region probably has some of the most unspoiled natural vegetation in the country, unlike many other regions that have been scarred by illegal mining. It also has some of the cleanest rivers and streams, untouched by pollution, with fresh air that is healthy for human existence.”

Mahama emphasized tourism as a key avenue for the region’s prosperity, pledging support to enhance its potential. “Tourism is a very viable prospect for prosperity.

Your own daughter, Abla Dzifa Gomashie, will work to improve the tourist sites in the region,” he noted, referring to the parliamentary candidate for the Ketu South constituency.

In addition to tourism, Mahama promised to address the region’s road infrastructure challenges, listing several key projects.

“Our own son, the Honorable Governs Kwame Agbodza, will prioritize the completion and rehabilitation of our road network in the region,” he stated.

Key road projects include:

• Completing unengineered sections of the Eastern Corridor road.
• Reconstructing the road from Dodo-Pepesu to Nkwanta.
• Completing the Hohoe to Ho section of the Eastern Corridor road.
• Overlaying the Jasikan to Dodo-Pepesu section.
• Constructing the Dambai Bridge and reengineering the road from Dambai through Krachi all the way to Kpandai.
