University of Ghana Lecturer and Secretary of the University Teachers Association (UTAG), University of Ghana, Prof Ransford Gyampo has threatened to sue National Youth Organizer of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), Salam Mustapha.
His decision emanates from a recent statement issued by Salam Mustapha suggesting that UTAG is doing the bidding of opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC).
In Mustapha Salam’s statement he mentioned emphatically that the Professor believes in sex for grades; an opinion the lecturer has indicated that he will not take lightly.
Making this known in a post on social media, Gyampo said “My attention has been drawn to a statement issued by the NPP National Youth Organizer, one Salam Mustapha under the caption:
“NDC AND PROF. GYAMPO SEEK TO DISENFRANCHISE GHANAIAN STUDENTS WITH UTAG STRIKE”
I won’t dignify that boy by reproducing the statement here. But it contained baseless defamatory allegations about things I haven’t done. Over the last five years, I have had many people who do not have substance, peddling falsehood about me, but I have been restrained by my lawyers from taking them on in the courts of law because, in their view, I shouldn’t be interested in suing men of straw.
But this boy isn’t of straw. He is the National Youth Organizer of the NPP. I have therefore instructed my lawyers to file a legal suit against him and thankfully, they are more than happy to do same. He must be able to provide evidence to back the allegations he’s made against me in his release, and I am willing to spend every pesewa I have to settle this matter at the courts, once and for all. I trust in the courts and I am sure I would get justice now, but even if I don’t get justice now, I won’t leave this matter to rest because, I know that I would get it tomorrow.
We see how it goes! But Folks, kindly share this and let the boy and his elders behind him know that I am more than determined to bring finality to this matter, using due processes of law.
