Two NDC Northern Politicians Who Made Negative Headlines This Year

Two political figures in Northern Ghana have been hit by scandals in a matter of weeks as the opposition NDC prepares for the 2024 election.

The two figures who are alleged rivals, Haruna Iddrisu and Inusah Fuseini have been in the news for various allegations.

Last month, News24, a major news portal in South Africa published a report alleging that an indigenous company that did some work in Ghana paid bribes to some top politicians specifically mentioning the Tamale South Member of Parliament, Haruna Iddrisu, who allegedly benefitted from bribes to the tune of over US$2.5 million (47 million rands).

The News24 investigative report zoned in on the activities of the Singh siblings, Rushil and Nishani, who operated the Ghana Infrastructure Company (GIC) between 2017 and 2022 at a time the Tamale politician was a Minority Leader of parliament. Other payments were also captured dating as far back as 2015.

Monies were paid in lieu of profit share from a subcontract for the construction of Buipe Hospital and for the construction of Haruna’s private residence among other breakdowns.

Inusah Fuseini is the second politician to face public accusations after an organized crime investigation nailed him as one of many owners of plush properties in Dubai.

MyNewsGh.com has joined a team of investigators to find out the date of purchase and leases of the apartments and properties in the name of Inusah Fuseini who was elevated from a Deputy Minister to a full Minister under John Mahama.

He was at different times in charge of two ministries, the ministry of road and highways and the Ministry of lands and Natural resources.

Major multi-million dollar road projects contracts under the John Mahama administration were signed  under his tenure as minister including the Brazilian Queroz Galvao contract.

The list of properties includes plush luxury high-end serviced 3–4-5 bedrooms condos and presidential suites owned by Inusah Fuseini totalling nearly US$10million.
