Suspect leads colleagues to beat and injure police, seize loaded AK47 rifle

A policeman in the company of three Community Police Assistants (CPAs) were on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, given the beatings of their lives in their attempt to arrest a suspect at Akrofuom near Obuasi in the Ashanti Region.

The security officers have been left with varying degrees of injuries and are currently on admission at the  Obuasi Government Hospital with one said to be battling for his life.

MyNewsGh.com gathered that a 62-year-old had earlier reported a case of threat of harm by the suspect identified as  Sibuba to the police and was leading them to his house near the DCE’s bungalow.

On reaching the house of the suspect, the complainant  pointed him out to the Police to be arrested but suspect Sibuba pleaded with the police to allow  him to inform his family about his arrest and was allowed to make a phone call

 A few minutes later, a mob numbering about 50 with various life-threatening objects attacked and beat the officers mercilessly. They also took an  AK 47 rifle from the policeman and later dumped the officers in a nearby bush to die.

The officers managed to call for re-enforcement and were immediately rushed to the Obuasi Government Hospital where they were admitted for treatment. Meanwhile, the AK 47 rifle has since been retrieved while police are on the hunt for the suspect and his accomplices.
