The flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Mahama has slammed the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) for asking Ghanaians for another chance after destroying the country, describing the party as shameless
During one of his campaign tours in the Oti Region, John Mahama recounted how the NPP presented themselves as the saviour of the country and how they criticized his government and at a point tagged him as incompetent.
“In my era, a bag of cement was GHc24 but the NPP claimed there was hardship. Since the days of Kwame Nkrumah, the debt we incurred was just GHc120 billion. The NPPs complained that the country had a lot of resources and that we didn’t need to take loans to develop the country”John Mahama recounted.
The NDC torch bearer stated that the NPPs complained about how he run the country but since they took over, they have run down the country.
“The bag of cement we used to buy for GHc24 is now GHc110. The petrol we used to buy was as low as GHc14 it’s now GHc75. During the era of NDC, 1 dollar was as low as GHc4 but now a dollar to cedis is GHc17″ John Mahama listed some items to show the differences in prices.
He further stated that he would be ashamed to ask the people of Ghana to vote for him if he was in their party, adding that the situation is shameful.
“The NPP have no shame; they’re still asking for a chance after destroying the country”, he bemoaned.
