Merchant Bank wasn’t sold because of my indebtedness – Ibrahim Mahama

Businessman and brother of the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress, John Dramani Mahama, Ibrahim Mahama has given Manasseh Azure seven days to retract and apologise for some parts of his recently release book “The President Ghana Never Got”.

In the book, Manasseh Azure indicated that there was controversy in 2013 that the bank was struggling because Ibrahim Mahama was one of the big debtors of the struggling Merchant Bank.

However, in a letter to Manasseh Azure from Ibrahim Mahama’s Lawyers, they stated that Ibrahim Mahama had settled his debt with the bank.

He mmade the payment to the credit bureau agency but the majority share holder in the bank failed to account for the payments made.

It was in 2023 when Ibrahim took the issue to court and forced the credit bureau agency to acknowledge his payments of debts owed Merchant Bank.

He has therefore given Manasseh Azure seven days to retract and apologise to him as the publication has led to several calls and placed his name in disrepute.
