Managing Director of EDC Investments Ltd., Paul Kofi Mante, has shared his thoughts on financial roles in marriage during an interview on Joy News monitored by MyNewsGh
He emphasized the importance of understanding the history of a relationship before reacting to financial shifts between partners.
“Sometimes, we have to step back and look at the history of the relationship and the history of the marriage. What has happened in the past?” he noted.
Citing an old saying, he added, “Somebody said if you see two people fighting, don’t ask what happened—ask what happened yesterday.”
Mante suggested that past experiences often shape how partners react to financial changes.
He acknowledged that a man’s response to his wife earning significantly more might be influenced by previous circumstances in the relationship.
However, he believes that if a couple sees themselves as one unit, financial success should not cause tension.
“If we are together, if we are one, if we are working for us, why should it be a problem at all?” he questioned.
In a lighthearted conclusion, he expressed his stance, focusing on one of her co-panelists and saying, “I want Linda to make more money so I can chop her money.”
