Stop Galamsey protest to hit streets of Ghana on March 6 – Barker-Vormawor hints

Youth activist Oliver Barker Vormawor has hinted at a Stop Galamsey protest on March 6, 2025.

This comes on the back of reports suggesting that some person are illegally mining in the Tano Anwia forest.

To Barker Vormawor, such things cannot be made to happen in the country.

In a series of posts, he told the current government that they have three months to halt the illegal mining going on.

His post read “Erastus Asare Donkor says as we speak, there are groups still inside the Tano Anwia forest reserve mining illegally and further degrading the forest.

This pic was taken this morning!

It’s been nearly 5months since we were arrested for protesting Galamsey. It seems to me that this existential threat must bring us back to the streets.

These are people who are more likely than not operating with some of the over 2000 licenses issued by the former Regime.

These licenses must be revoked! Our approach to irresponsible mining cannot include allowing people to do “legally” the exact things they did “illegally”.

#StopGalamsey Demonstration now on 6th March. Notice served!”

Adding that “President Dey Revoke Previous Appointments. All that is good. So why is he not also revoking the 2000 mining licenses Mampam gave his cronies.

We cannot allow people to do legally the exact things they did illegally, under cover of shoddy licenses.

The President has 3 months ultimatum exactly!

6th March Demonstration Loading.

#RevokeTheLicenses#StopGalamsey“.
