NPP has hijacked  Ghana – Nana Yaa Jantuah

A former General Secretary of the Convention People’s Party (CPP), Ms Nana Yaa Jantuah, has slammed the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) for going around in circles, although Articles 97  (g) and (h) are clear.

During an panel discussions on TV3’s NewDay monitored by MyNewsGh.com, Nana Yaa Jantuah stated that the NPP has put the whole country on hold due to the vacant seats brouhaha.

She further emphasized that there is not need for the Supreme Court to interpret Article 97  (g) and (h) because the law is clear.

“It is sad that there is a State hijack by the NPP. They have hijacked the nation and we must take it back. They do what they want in this country.”

“This constitution is clear. Article 97 (g) and (h) state emphatically that you will be taken out a party if you file as an independent candidate. The NPP wants us to go through all this because of their ego when they know what the constitution says”, Nana Yaa complained.

The Former Director of Public Affairs for Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC)  emphasized that the NPP constitution highlights the fact that if a member files as an Independent Candidate, they are autocratically removed from the party.

She further express worry on how the vacant seat brouhaha has been turned into a political issue and not a constitutional case as it should.

“This has turned into a political cause instead of a constitutional case. And its now about a group of people who don’t want to lose their power or control but they still don’t have the control in parliament due to the change in numbers of members”, she observed

Nana Yaa Jantuah further blamed the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin saying that his magnanimity has caused the ongoing brouhaha.
