Ghana’s U-20 athletics team has arrived in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, ready to compete in the two-day Youth Invitational Athletics Championships.
The event will be held at the Stade Félix Houphouët-Boigny in Abidjan from 20–21 April.
The 15-person team, selected from senior high schools (SHS) and athletic clubs across the country, will be tested in a variety of track and field events, including the 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 110m hurdles, 400m hurdles, high jump, and relays.
Participation in this event looks to be part of Ghana Athletics‘ plan to build a new generation of future track and field stars for the nation as they look to dominate the continent and beyond.
Ghana is set to face regional rivals Burkina Faso, Benin, and the host nation, Côte d’Ivoire, in the four-nation athletics competition. The team is expected to return home on Sunday (22 April) following the championship.
