Election 2024: Akua Donkor and Cheddar get more votes than Alan – Kofi Jumah

Mr. Maxwell Kofi Jumah, Managing Director of GIHOC Distilleries Limited and former Mayor of Kumasi, has predicted that Akua Donkor, leader of the Ghana Freedom Party(GFP) and Nana Kwame Bediako alias Cheddar, a well-known businessman, will likely garner more votes than Alan John Kyerematen in the December 7 elections.

Speaking during an interview on Angel FM monitored by MyNewsGH.com Mr. Jumah argued that Kyerematen, who recently broke away from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to contest as an independent candidate, has lost his political direction.

“Alan is a man who has lost his path, and the reason is clear—leaving the NPP was his biggest mistake,” Jumah asserted. “In this upcoming election, even Akua Donkor, with her grassroots appeal, stands a better chance of gaining votes than Alan.”

“Mahama is trying to weaken the NPP through Alan and Cheddar, but it’s a hopeless strategy,” Jumah added with conviction. “Alan will not make any significant impact. Akua Donkor and even Osofo Kyiri Abosom of The Ghana Union Movement have more compelling policies, and they appeal more to the ordinary voter than Alan ever will.” He alleged

Jumah’s remarks come at a time when Kyerematen’s candidacy has been met with mixed reactions. Once a respected figure in the NPP, his decision to go solo was viewed by many as a direct challenge to the party’s dominance in the upcoming elections.

However, critics like Kofi Jumah are quick to dismiss Kyerematen’s influence, especially in comparison to Akua Donkor, whose unconventional but persistent political presence has earned her a degree of respect among grassroots voters.

“Akua Donkor might not be a conventional politician, but she resonates with the people. When push comes to shove, people will follow someone they believe is genuine, even if her policies seem far-fetched,” Jumah explained.

He then pointed to Kyerematen’s lack of grassroots connection as a key reason for his predicted poor performance, a sentiment shared by many within the NPP.

Kofi Jumah remains adamant that Alan’s move is a blunder he will come to regret. “If Alan had stayed in the NPP, he would have had a future, but now? He’s up against people with more substance in the eyes of the voters, and he’s not going to fare well,” he concluded.
