Visa Appointment Dates: Ghanaian Applicant Writes ‘Serious’ Letter To US Embassy Ghana

A Ghanaian visa applicant Jonathan Cobbina has appealed to the Embassy of the United States in Accra to take steps to address the lack of visa appointment dates for Non Immigrant Visa applicants.

According to him, the uncertainty and lack of dates for visa applicants is causing “anxiety and stress” urging the embassy to address the issue.

Currently, checks show visa applicants have no date in Accra to schedule an appointment after making the necessary payments with wait times in Accra beyond 500 days.

“Many individuals, including students, business professionals, and families, are experiencing increased anxiety and stress due to the uncertainty of when appointments will be reinstated” he wrote.

He added: “We respectfully ask for consideration and intervention in addressing this issue. A clear communication about the current status or estimated timeframe for resuming appointments would go a long way in alleviating the growing concerns. Furthermore, if there are specific reasons for this pause in appointments, sharing this with the public could foster a sense of understanding and patience.

Dear U.S. Embassy Ghana,

I hope this message finds you well. I am writing on behalf of the countless visa applicants in Ghana, who have found themselves in a difficult situation as U.S. Non-Immigrant Visa (NIV) appointment dates have been unavailable for the past several weeks. Many individuals, including students, business professionals, and families, are experiencing increased anxiety and stress due to the uncertainty of when appointments will be reinstated.

The United States has long represented a beacon of opportunity and the promise of connecting cultures, fostering business, and advancing education. Ghana, with its deep-rooted ties to the U.S., is no exception. Many hopeful applicants are waiting patiently, trusting in the systems of diplomacy and fairness that the U.S. represents. However, as the weeks go by without available dates for appointments, people are growing weary. Families planning to visit loved ones, students with dreams of studying in the U.S., and professionals attending essential business meetings are left in limbo.

We understand that unforeseen challenges may arise, and that your office works tirelessly to ensure efficient services. But we respectfully ask for consideration and intervention in addressing this issue. A clear communication about the current status or estimated timeframe for resuming appointments would go a long way in alleviating the growing concerns. Furthermore, if there are specific reasons for this pause in appointments, sharing this with the public could foster a sense of understanding and patience.

Visa applicants remain hopeful, not only for the resumption of appointments but for the continuation of the strong partnership between Ghana and the U.S. that benefits so many. We appeal to your sense of compassion and fairness, and trust that the Embassy will do its utmost to resolve this matter swiftly.

Thank you for your attention to this urgent issue, and we look forward to your response.

Yours sincerely,

Jonathan Cobbinah

Concerned U.S. Visa Applicant
