The 24-hour economy is a scam– Richard Ahiagbah

Richard Ahiagbah, Director of Communications for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has cast doubt on the feasibility of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) proposed 24-hour economy policy.

Speaking in an interview at Metro TV monitored by MyNewsGH, he asserted that the policy is not practical in its promised scope.

“They can’t do that 24 hours. They pulled the first one over Ghanaians, and that’s it,” he remarked, arguing that round-the-clock operations already exist in certain industries.

“Dr. B admitted that it’s already happening. What’s your point? Why are you saying it’s new?”

Ahiagbah questioned the specifics of the policy, particularly its implementation in government institutions. “What is the formula? Is it 1-3-3? Does it mean every setup will have that combination? Not every institution can adopt that structure,” he said.

He went on to illustrate that hospitals and security services already operate 24-hour shifts, making the policy redundant.

“Which ministry are they going to do that at? Which agency? If it’s already being done where necessary, then what exactly is new about this?”

He concluded that the idea was an illusion sold to Ghanaians for political gain. “This whole thing was a fast one they pulled over Ghanaians. It should begin to de-accelerate because it’s not realizable. For me, as an NPP person, it’s not realizable. No, no, no,” he insisted.
