Constitutional Review Committee Sworn in by President Mahama

President of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama, has sworn into office the Constitutional Review Committee.

At a ceremony held at the seat of government, the eight-member committee tasked with the review of Ghana’s constitution by identifying the gaps and challenges in the implementation of previous constitutional review efforts, engaging with stakeholders to gather diverse perspectives, and formulating actionable recommendations to strengthen Ghana’s democratic institutions and processes. 

The President speaking at the event said, “This review is crucial to ensuring that our Constitution remains a living document, responsive to the evolving needs and aspirations of our people.“

He further indicated that their work would not be in vain.

“Your work will not be in vain; this will not be an exercise in futility,” he told the committee.

He was confident that the committee would deliver on its mandate.

The Review Committee Include:

1. Prof. H Kwasi Prempeh – Chairman
2. Justice Sophia Adinyirah – Member
3. Prof. Kwame Karikari – Member
4. Mrs. Charlotte Osei – Member
5. Dr. Godwin Djokoto – Member
6. Ibrahim Tanko Amidu – Member
7. Dr. Esi Ansah – Member
8. Dr. Rainer Akumperigeya – Secretary
