Sports Minister, Mustapha Ussif has mounted a strong defence behind spending $3 million for Ghana’s failed AFCON bid earlier this year.
The Black Stars after a shambolic showing at the AFCON were reported to have spent an amount of $3 million.
This expenditure did not sit well with a number of Ghanaians who thought the country is wasting money on a national team that was not giving the country any glory.
Speaking on the matter while addressing Parliament’s select committee on Sports, Mustapha Ussif defended the expenditure,, saying the cash was spent on per diems, flight and logistics.
“Our team, once they are here and they are going to Côte d’Ivoire, you have to charter a flight, and that flight comes at a cost. Apart from flying all of them in business class, you also have to charter a flight… and when they finish, you get a flight to bring them back, so those are the costs”.
