Real Tamale United (RTU FC) have been fined GHC100,000 for player impersonation against Dreams FC in the 2023/24 season.
The disciplinary committee of the FA found that during the Matchday 28 game, already relegated Real Tamale United FC intentionally deceived the match officials during the game by using unregistered players to impersonate officially registered players of the club in a game they lost 8-1.
The registered players boycotted the clash over unpaid salaries and bonuses for six months.
Real Tamale United FC pleaded guilty to the charges and pleaded for leniency.
The statement of defence filed by the club explained that the club were in a difficult situation and officials thought their actions on the day were intended to alleviate an already bad situation of the club as the club’s registered players refused to make the trip.
Officials of RTU FC who led the team to the said match have each been handed a one-year ban from all football-related activities with immediate effect.
The Real Tamale United FC officials banned are assistant coach Iddi Manzah Alhassan, team doctor Abdul-Samed Iddrisu, team manager Tanko Jentumah and other members Abdul-Gafaru Salifu, Sylvester Yaw Apanka.
