Otto Addo names 25-man squad ahead of crucial AFCON qualifiers

Black Stars head coach Otto Addo has shaken up his 25-man squad with three fresh changes ahead of Ghana’s crucial 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers against Niger and Angola.

The squad, announced on Thursday (7 November), omits notable names such as Asante Kotoko goalkeeper Frederick Asare, defenders Abdul Mumin and Mohammed Salisu, and midfielder Majeed Ashimeru.

Players who made the previous squad but had to drop out due to injury or illness, like Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey and Samsunspor defender Kingsley Schindler, are still out while Joseph Paintsil and Ibrahim Osman return.

Making their debut call-ups are Asante Kotoko’s midfielder Emmanuel Antwi, Nations FC defender Razak Simpson and Lorient defender Nathaniel Adjei, who bring fresh energy and depth as the Black Stars prepare for must-win matches.

Ghana faces Angola on Friday (15 November) and Niger on Monday (18 November), knowing that their AFCON fate could hinge on Sudan’s performance in the remaining fixtures.

For Ghana, it’s a high-stakes mission: only wins will keep their qualification dreams alive.
