The STEM Parrot Foundation has donated 50 volume-type computers, 300 sketchbooks, and other educational materials to five junior high schools in the Ashanti Region. The donation, supported by local organizations and the UK-based Ledyen Education Consultancy, aims to enhance students’ skills for future success.
Nana Agyemang Prempeh, Executive Director of the Foundation, presented the resources to Mr Michael Lawson of Trans 360 Logistics in Kumasi, with Mr Emmanuel Omarie managing the distribution logistics.
The volume-type computers, designed specifically for educational use, will significantly boost students’ digital literacy. Meanwhile, the sketchbooks will enhance learning in subjects like science and the arts.
Nana Prempeh also announced the launch of the “Girls in STEM” initiative in 2025, aimed at inspiring young girls to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).
In 2025, STEM Parrot Foundation plans to introduce community-based STEM clubs targeting junior high school students to promote STEM education and career paths. Nana Prempeh called on corporate and international organizations to support the Foundation’s mission and help further its impact.
The five junior high schools benefiting from this donation are Bredi JHS, Mentumi D/A JHS, P3 Wo De3 D/A JHS, Enkaakyi D/A JHS, and Kwantia D/A JHS. Mr. Emmanuel Omarie received the educational items on behalf of the five schools.
Estimated Value: The total donation is valued at approximately *USD 22,000* (GHS 266,000), including 50 volume-type computers (valued at USD 425 each), 300 sketchbooks, and logistics costs. This initiative was supported by Ledyen Education Consultancy, UK.
