NPP MPs have forgotten they are now minority-Amoako Baah

Political Scientist Dr Richard Amoako Baah is of the firm view that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Members of Parliament have forgotten they are now the Minority in Parliament.

He believes that this is fueling why they think they must be the ones to make decisions on the Appointments Committee.

“It is the chairman of the committee who decides, and if you say you will not agree, you have no choice. He is the one who organizes the meeting, not you for you to think you can do what you want. They have forgotten they are no longer the majority in parliament.

Is this how Parliament is run? They should not act like no one knows how Parliament is run. It is the committee chair who runs the committee, not the ranking member,” he told Starr FM.

To him, arguments that the speaker has no power to suspend the MP do not hold water and are crazy.

“I still hear people crazy people saying the speaker doesn’t have the power to do that; that should tell us who has the power to bring discipline to Parliament. He has the authority to keep discipline in the parliament. So who should be in charge? The Committee Chair?”.
