The Ghana National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GNCCI) has successfully organized a two-day intensive training programme in Tamale to empower women and youth.
The initiative is part of the Green Growth Ghana Project, a collaborative effort between the GNCCI, the Presbyterian University of Ghana, and the European Union Delegation (EU) in Ghana.
A statement issued in Accra by Peter Atsu Dotse, Head of Communications GNCCI, said the training programme, held from January 30 to 31, 2025, brought together over 30 young entrepreneurs, cooperatives, and startups, with 60 per cent of the participants being women.
It said these individuals were selected from the Upper West, Upper East, and Northern Regions.
The statement said they benefited from tailored sessions designed to equip them with practical skills and knowledge in the green economy and circular economy.
Mr. Chris Addy-Nayo, an Advocate for Youth Empowerment and Expert on the Project, said “Ghana’s future wealth lies in youthful entrepreneurs who need to be supported to realize their full potentials for nation-building.”
“This programme builds upon the successes of the GreenGrowth Ghana Project launched in Wa in 2024,” he added.
Key areas of focus during the training sessions included cooperative management and governance, sustainable agricultural practices, financial literacy and market access and market research training.
The rest are entrepreneurship and business planning, and the role of technology in modern agribusiness.
He said participants explored digital tools and platforms for market research, business communication, and development.
He said the Green Growth Ghana Project aligned with Ghana’s vision for inclusive growth and sustainable development, addressing poverty, promoting decent work, and facilitating the creation of green and circular economies.
The project contributes to key United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, including Gender Equality (SDG 5), Decent Work and Economic Growth (SDG 8), Climate Action (SDG 13), and Poverty Reduction (SDG 1).
He said the success of the training programme reaffirmed the GNCCIs commitment to supporting women and youth as agents of economic transformation.
Mr Addy-Nayo said the European Union’s continued partnership demonstrated its dedication to fostering sustainability and resilience in Ghana’s agro-forestry value chains and circular economy sector.
The Green Growth Ghana Project reflects a shared vision to empower individuals, strengthen communities, and drive sustainable development for a prosperous future.
