Ransford Gyampo, acting CEO of the Ghana Shippers Authority, has defended his appointment amidst criticism questioning his lack of experience in shipping management in an interview with TV3’s Keminni Nyamanni Amanor monitored by MyNewsGH.

Gyampo, an academic and governance expert, emphasized that his university training had equipped him with universal skills that make him adaptable to any role, including his current one.

He compared his situation to others in leadership positions who had no prior work experience before excelling in their appointed roles.

Gyampo reflected on his two-decade career in teaching, where he trained many individuals who are now heading key positions.

Gyampo pointed out that his expertise as a political science professor had prepared him to work in various domains, not just within academia.

Addressing concerns about his qualifications, he noted that university education fosters moldability and adaptability, which are essential qualities for leadership in diverse fields.

He firmly rejected the notion that he was a “square peg in a round hole,” stating that the President’s confidence in him had been carefully assessed over time, and he was ready to deliver.
