NPP’s biggest problem was that they were not listening – Gifty Klenam

Former NPP MP Gifty Klenam has cited a lack of responsiveness as one of the main reasons for her decision to leave the party, stating that the NPP leadership failed to listen—even to their own members.

Speaking on Joy Prime which was monitored by MyNewsGh, Klenam was asked about the NPP’s poor performance in the last election.

While she was hesitant to comment in detail, she noted that one of the party’s biggest flaws was its inability to listen to concerns from the grassroots.

“I don’t know whether I should speak to this matter, especially now that I’m no longer with them,” she said. “But I think they were not listening—not even to their own party members.”

Despite her decision to support the NDC in the last election, Klenam expressed gratitude to the NPP for her past opportunities.

“I am grateful to the NPP, and I don’t want to speak ill of them. But clearly, based on what you are asking, it shows that I was not happy within the party,” she admitted.

Her remarks suggest that internal party issues and neglect of grassroots concerns may have contributed to the NPP’s electoral setbacks.
