Ransford Gyampo responded to critics who claimed his appointment as acting CEO of the Ghana Shippers Authority was a reward for his critical stance against previous governments.

In his interview with Keminni Nyamanni Amanor, Gyampo dismissed the notion that he was being silenced or co-opted for past criticisms.

He explained that his role as an academic and a public intellectual involved challenging policies and holding leaders accountable.

Gyampo noted that he had publicly critiqued both the Akufo-Addo and Mahama administrations, driven by a sense of duty to ensure good governance and accountability.

He explained that his criticisms were never motivated by malice but by a desire to improve leadership.

He also mentioned that throughout his career, he had remained true to his values, even when facing disagreements within his own professional circles, such as during his time at the University of Ghana.

Gyampo emphasized that being appointed to serve Ghana, not a political party, was an opportunity for him to contribute to the country’s development.

He rejected the idea that accepting the position was an indication of political loyalty, pointing out that many individuals with differing political backgrounds were appointed to various roles based on their competence.
