NPP members acting like fools because they’re in power – NDC’s Alexander Akuoko

A member of the opposition National Democratic Congress(NDC) Communication Team, Alexander Akuoko has slammed Dr Nana Ayew Afriyie for his recent comment about the galamsey menace.

It will be recalled that during the weekend, Dr Nana Ayew Afriyie during a campaign tour accused the National Democratic Congress (NDC) of sponsoring the pollution of water bodies across the country for electoral gains.

He further alleged that the NDC, sensing defeat ahead of the December 7 elections, has resorted to creating confusion in Accra with needless protests to mislead the electorate for votes.

Reacting to the comment of Dr Afriyie, Alexander Akuoko slammed Dr Afriyie over his insensitive comment. He reemphasized how the galamsey activities have affected newborn babies who were born with diverse deformities.

He further slammed the NPP for not being able to arrest galamseyers which were claimed to have been brought from Togo to destroy the water bodies.

“We are talking about the lives of human beings. As a doctor in Ghana, you know how the galamsey activities have caused a lot of side effects. Some children have been born with deformities but as a doctor, you ignored all these and made such an insensitive comment.” 

“What is wrong with you? Let’s assume the NDC brought in people to destroy the water bodies, tell us who is currently in power. Is NDC in power? Why won’t your party solve the issues by using your power to arrest these people you claimed at Togolese? But you decided to arrest protesters who were demonstrating to fight galamsey.” He took on the Effiduase-Asokore Constituency lawmaker.
