In what can be considered a reflective speech, the President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has stated that he wishes history to remember him in Ghana as the President who championed education in the country.
The President made this observation in his keynote address at the official commissioning of the newly constructed Accra STEM Academy at East Legon today, Friday, 27 December 2024. He noted that the seeds his administration has sown throughout his tenure will bear many fruits for future generations.
“As I reflect on the transformative strides we have made in education, I cannot help but reiterate my wish that history will remember me as the education president. I am hopeful that posterity will look kindly on the investments we have made in education during my tenure of office,” President Akufo-Addo remarked.
“From the implementation of the free senior high school policy to the establishment of institutions like the Accra STEM Academy, these efforts are laying the foundation for a brighter future. The seeds we have sown today will undoubtedly bear fruits for generations to come, shaping a Ghana that is educated, innovative, and resilient,” Akufo-Addo further remarked.
According to President Akufo-Addo, the Accra STEM Academy will play a critical role in addressing Ghana’s challenge in training people in the engineering field by nurturing a new generation of Ghanaians who will use their knowledge to solve domestic problems and contribute to global advancements.
“This Academy symbolises our belief that every child deserves a chance to succeed. It reflects our vision of a Ghana where education is the foundation of a brighter future. Let us cherish and protect this goal together.
“Let this Academy inspire generations of learners to reach for the skies and advance Ghana’s destiny. May the Accra STEM Academy shine brightly, may our students thrive, and may God bless our homeland, Ghana,” President Akufo-Addo said.
