The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has released the 2024 WASSCE results, revealing that over 4,000 candidates have had their subject results canceled due to examination malpractices.
In a press statement on Monday (30 December) WAEC disclosed that a total of 4,108 candidates were penalized for various forms of malpractice. Additionally, the entire results of 483 candidates were annulled, while subject results for 781 candidates and the full results of 209 candidates were withheld pending further investigations.
According to John K. Kapi, WAEC’s Head of Public Affairs, the council takes a strong stance against examination fraud to uphold the credibility of its assessments.
Mr. Kapi also warned candidates and parents to be vigilant against scammers claiming to offer results upgrades for a fee. He emphasized that such offers are fraudulent and should be ignored.
The delayed release of the results was caused by unpaid debts owed to WAEC by the Ghanaian government. However, recent payments allowed the council to finalize and release the results by 30 December.
School heads across the country have been provided with login details to access the results via WAEC’s official portal. Candidates are advised to contact their schools or use WAEC’s website to check their results.
Meanwhile, WAEC assured the public that investigations into the remaining cases of malpractice are ongoing and promised to announce further actions once they are complete.
