Mahama is Ghana’s most privileged president – Bishop Owusu

Bishop Sam Owusu, founder of the Pottersville Church, has described President John Dramani Mahama as the most privileged leader in Ghana’s history.

Speaking in an interview on Asempa FM monitored by MyNewsGH, he highlighted the weight of expectation on Mahama’s shoulders following his decisive victory over Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia in the 2024 presidential elections.

“President Mahama is uniquely positioned in our history. He has been given an extraordinary second chance, and Ghanaians have placed immense trust in him,” Bishop Owusu said. “This trust comes with a responsibility to lead with humility, honesty, and integrity.”

Bishop Owusu acknowledged that the landslide endorsement Mahama received reflects the public’s frustration with the failures of Nana Akufo-Addo’s administration.

He cautioned the President to avoid the pitfalls of unmet expectations, warning that disappointment could erode the nation’s faith in leadership.

“Ghanaians had high hopes for the previous administration, but those hopes were dashed. That is why the NPP faced total rejection,” the Bishop remarked.

“President Mahama must learn from their mistakes. If he fails to leave a meaningful legacy, it will not just be a personal failure but a betrayal of the people’s confidence.”

Bishop Owusu emphasized the need for Mahama to prioritize transparency and accountability. He also encouraged the President to listen to the concerns of everyday citizens and ensure that his administration is inclusive and forward-thinking.
