How I put NLA back on the world rankings, raked huge revenue for the State –  Awuku

The Director General of the  National Lottery Authority (NLA), Mr Samuel Awuku has shared how he generated huge revenue for the country while also pushing Ghana’s lotteries back on the world rankings.

During an exclusive interview with Asaase FM monitored by MyNewsGH.com, Sammi Awuku disclosed that when he was put in charge of NLA, the charitas bowl had nothing in its coffers so he gradually generated revenue by working hand in hand with his team.

According to him, he tasked his team and gave the marketing department a target to hit for the year in order to generate revenue.

“So I tasked my team and gave them a target of GHc1.5 million to raise within a year. With motivation and staff morale and pushing them, we made GHc1.6 million that year. Then I set another target for my marketing team to raise GHcc3 million with the promise that if they raise the said target, all the marketers will be flown to Singapore for training. That year too, they raise GHc3.2 Million.” He revealed.

Sammi Awuku finally disclosed that after hitting the target in 2023, he tasked his team again to hit a target of 4 million this year, 2024. The team has however hit the target even before the year will end.

He explained that his outfit has also regained its status internationally and chalked some historic achievements.

“The NLA was kicked out from the African Lotteries Association when I came in but in my tenure, we’ve re-worked our ways into the Association and I have risen through the ranks of becoming the first Anglophone Director General to be elected by the Vice president of the African Lotteries Association. The NLA has reconnected to its mother body called the Mortal Gaming Authority”, he added.
