Dave Bishop to receive Ghanaian citizenship after transforming local communities

Dave Bishop, the development chief of Nyanfeku Ekroful in the Central Region, is set to officially receive his Ghanaian citizenship during a ceremony at the Accra International Conference Centre on 19 November 2024.

This milestone marks a significant chapter in Bishop’s journey of community service and commitment to development.

Enstooled as Nana Ekow Amu I on 30 December 2023, Bishop has dedicated himself to transforming the lives of people in his adopted community.

His new title is a recognition of his unwavering efforts to drive social and economic development in the area.

As the president and founder of Dave’s Choice Community Development Corp., Bishop has championed several projects that aim to boost Ghana’s tourism industry.

One of his flagship initiatives, GoingToGhana.com, seeks to strengthen ties between the United States and Africa by offering curated travel experiences that showcase Ghana’s rich culture and history.

But Bishop’s vision extends beyond tourism. Among his upcoming projects is the “Mother’s Day in the Motherland” event—a week-long celebration in Accra that will pay tribute to mothers for their invaluable contributions to society.

Scheduled for May 2025, this event aims to draw participants from around the world, enriching their understanding of Ghana’s heritage while honouring motherhood.

In June 2025, Bishop will also host “Motown in the Motherland,” a cultural exchange event from 15-22 June that coincides with Juneteenth celebrations.

This event is expected to bring together artisans, healthcare professionals, real estate investors, and musicians from Detroit’s iconic Motown community to connect with their Ghanaian counterparts, fostering collaboration and mutual growth.

Not stopping there, Bishop is set to launch a full-service concierge office at Kotoka International Airport, tailored to assist first-time visitors in navigating Ghana.

The initiative aims to ensure that newcomers experience a warm and seamless arrival, promoting Ghana as a top destination for tourism and investment.

Further demonstrating his dedication to community welfare, Bishop has undertaken the construction of a ten-bedroom maternity ward in the Central Region.

This facility, once completed, will provide critical support for new mothers and their infants, addressing a pressing need in the area.

As Bishop prepares to receive his citizenship, his impact in Ghana is a testament to the power of cultural exchange and community development.

His story exemplifies how one person’s commitment can bridge continents and create lasting change.
