A leading member of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), Arthur Kennedy, has questioned the quality of leaders the political party has had in recent times.
He was reacting to the defeat in the 2024 election and the need for the party to rebuild based on the party’s principles.
Arthur Kennedy questions why someone like Bernard Antwi Boasiako known popularly as Chairman Wontumi would be given the opportunity to lead Ashanti NPP, which used to be led by intellectually inclined individuals who engaged in intellectually stimulating conversations on national discourse.
He also questioned the choice of a running mate for the political party’s election in 2024 indicating that NPP can do better.
“Ashanti that used to be led by the likes of Donkor Fordjour is now led by Wontumi! Prempeh College, that gave us Kufuor and Crabbe now gives us Napo and Wontumi,” he said in his recent write-up on Ghana’s elections.
He urged the party to rebuild, indicating that “The party can and must be rebuilt based on its founding principles”.
