The director of electoral services at the Electoral Commission (EC), Benjamin Banor-Bio has said the EC will maintain a level playing field for all political parties ahead of the 2024 elections.
According to Banor-Bio the EC has deployed a robust system to detect, and prevent people from cheating and correct any anomalies that will occur during this year’s election.
Speaking at the launch of the Asaase Broadcasting Company Ltd Election Nerve Centre- the official coverage of the 2024 election, on the Asaase Breakfast Show on Wednesday (31 July), Banor-Bio said the EC will deliver its mandate in a grand style.
“We are of the view that elections can only be peaceful only when the results declared are a true reflection of the desire of the people who voted and for this, we are poised to ensure that we maintain a level playing field for all political parties.”
“This is the foundation for which EC stands, and we are going to ensure that come 7 December 2024, we will deliver our mandate in a very grand style…” Banor-Bio said.

Also speaking on the same programme, ACP Victoria Yamoah of Police Election Security Secretariat said the police have earnestly began working to ensure a peaceful election in December.
“Ghana’s democratic process relies on the integrity and security of its electoral system. When it comes to the security of elections, the police led by the IGP and other security services that constitute the national security taskforce have been doing a lot behind the scenes to ensure a successful election in December.”
“But of course it is not the election day that we are only looking at, a lot happens before during and after the election and the EC needs to be given the needed security to effectively discharge their duty,” Yamoah said.
