The NPP’s panic reaction shows we were on the right path – Amoakohene

Dr. Frank Amoakohene has outlined his top priorities for the region in an interview with GHOne’s Efia Tutuwaa Danso, monitored by MyNewsGh, discussing the key areas he plans to focus on if confirmed in office.

Dr. Amoakohene emphasized the importance of jobs and legacy projects for the region. “One of my key priorities will be creating more job opportunities, which will help uplift our people economically,” he said.

Additionally, he plans to complete many of the ongoing infrastructure projects such as roads, hospitals, and markets. Dr. Amoakohene specifically mentioned completing the Agenda 111 health facilities as a critical goal, particularly given that his region alone accounts for 16 of these projects.

Regarding the completion of stalled projects, particularly markets, Dr. Amoakohene committed to reviewing the reasons behind the delays.

“I’ll conduct a comprehensive review of all stalled projects to understand whether the issue is lack of funding or political will.

From there, I’ll make informed decisions on how to move forward,” he assured. When asked about the Kumasi Kejetia Market Phase 2 project, he gave a clear assurance that work will resume, though no specific timelines were provided.

Dr. Amoakohene also plans to address the implementation of a 24-hour economy in the region, which he sees as essential for sustaining economic growth.

“The idea is to keep our businesses running at all hours, which will contribute to job creation and economic stability,” he explained.

Mining, another critical area for the region, will also be a focus. Dr. Amoakohene said, “We need to ensure that the benefits of mining are felt in the communities, with proper regulation and investment in local development.”

On his vision for the region, Dr. Amoakohene expressed a commitment to staying close to the people.

“Our needs as a region change over time, and it is crucial that we remain responsive and proactive to the people’s demands. This way, we will be able to bring in more development and maintain the trust of the electorate.”
