In an age where digital content dominates, music videos remain a powerful tool for artists to connect with their audiences.
However, according to renowned artist manager and entertainment pundit Bulldog, the rules of engagement in the music video space are evolving.
During an interview on Hitz FM monitoredbyMyNewsGH, Bulldog offered thought-provoking advice to musicians regarding their investments in music videos.
“There’s no need to spend heavily on elaborate visuals these days. Consumers have moved on from long, flashy videos. What they want is simple, impactful content that delivers the message without wasting time,” he explained.
Drawing from industry trends, Bulldog noted how changing consumer preferences have reshaped the way music videos are received.
With the advent of platforms like TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube Shorts, audiences are gravitating toward bite-sized visuals that are engaging and to the point.
“Attention spans are shorter now. People want to understand the message and move on. Artists need to adapt or risk being overlooked,” he added.
To illustrate his point, Bulldog highlighted Sarkodie’s strategic approach in creating the music video for his track “Messiah.”
“Sarkodie shot the “Messiah” video on the same day as his Rapperholic concert, while stage preparations were ongoing.
It wasn’t extravagant, but it went viral and helped him achieve his goals,” Bulldog revealed, commending the rapper’s ability to balance creativity and practicality.
