NDC must brace for Minority pushback – Draman warns on strategy

Dr. Rasheed Draman has offered a critical analysis of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary strategy, cautioning the party about potential pitfalls in their approach to governance.

The Executive Director of the African Center for Parliamentary Affairs (ACEPA), speaking on Starr FM, emphasized the challenges the NDC might face despite their numerical advantage in Parliament.

He remarked, “The NDC would have to watch it. They might have the numbers, but if they are not careful, they will always be taken by surprise.

And this minority, I think, can overpower them in terms of frustrating government business and ensuring that, at the least opportunity, even if they don’t succeed, they can disrupt the parliamentary process.”

Dr. Draman’s remarks come at a time when parliamentary tensions are high, with the newly appointed Majority Leader facing significant challenges early in his tenure.

The ACEPA director acknowledged the difficulties the leader might encounter, observing, “This is just his second day as Majority Leader, and this issue is already thrown at him. I’m not sure how much of it he is going to take or how much patience he will have for this.”
