Former President of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama has spoken about reports that suggested that Guinnea Fowls under the Savanna Accelerated Development Authority (SADA) flew off to Burkina Faso.
According to him, nothing of the sort happened while he was president.
The former President provided this clarification when he engaged in the media in the Upper East Region.
“Unfortunately, the project ran into issues, and the media criticized it, and they came and said the guinea fowls had flown to Burkina Faso.
No Guinea fowls flew to Burkina Faso. Guinea fowls are not migratory birds, and the project was not for you to come and see thousands of guinea fowls in one place. It was supposed to incubate the eggs and give the day-old chicks to the farmers.
So someone came and asked a watchman where the guinea fowls were and the watchman said they had left for Burkina Faso and that they would come during the rainy season and then it took a life of its own. Up till now, there are people who believe that the guinea fowls flew to Burkina Faso. So that project died but I think it’s a project that we can look at again,” he said.
