Rigging Allegations: NDC preparing the minds of supporters of impending defeat – Dennis Miracles

Communications Director for the Dr Mahamudu Bawumia campaign, Dennis Miracles Aboagye, asserts that the National Democratic Congress is preparing the minds of their supporters towards their impending defeat.

He recalls that the NDC used the same strategy they used in the 2016 and 2020 elections, where they accused the New Patriotic Party of rigging the election, and surprisingly, they have not learnt lessons.

Dennis Miracles Aboagye, who was speaking in an interview said, “They did not do this in the 2008 elections; the same can be said about the 2012 elections, but for 2016 and 2020, this has been their strategy.”

“In 2016, they said we had brought in mercenaries from South Africa to rig the elections. In 2020 they said we were training thugs in Asutware to help us rig the elections. The same Sammy Gyamfi led with these allegations.

When we voted and NPP was declared winners of the election, they went to court and it turned out that their people went to the EC to drink tea and complained that they were not given biscuits. They insulted the Judges when the verdict was out but Asiedu Nketia who was then the General Secretary of the NDC revealed later that the party had no evidence to back their claims of rigging but had to put an act together to whip the party’s base in line.

Even their flagbearer said they have shared the positions among themselves already so it is shocking that they are now saying that if the election is free and fair, they can win but if it’s not free and fair, then they will lose. They do this to prepare the minds of their people towards electoral defeat. They assumed that because they’d spent eight years in opposition, the people of Ghana would vote for them automatically. However, they’ve come to realize that the people of Ghana will look at their achievements and vote accordingly”.

He added that “they have realized that the election is a lost course for them that is why they have started beating war drums so that when they lose they can blame it on something”.
