The Dean of the School of Graduate Studies and Research at the Cape Coast Technical University(CCTU), Surv. Professor Emmanuel Kwamina Bamfo-Agyei has debunked the erroneous impression that the Oguaa(Cape Coast) Koto(Crab) symbol signifies “pull him down”.
He explained that the nature of crabs talks about unity and not ‘pulling him down ‘as claimed and called on indigenes to embrace the crab as a means of positive development rather than negative thoughts.
“Just as the crab is seen as a resilient and resourceful creature, the people of Oguaa draw inspiration from this symbol in their efforts to revitalize their community” The Senior Lecturer explained.
Surv. Professor Kwamina Bamfo-Agyei made these known during a public lecture in honour of the Omanhen of Oguaa Traditional Area, Osabarima Dr. Kwesi Atta II organized by the Cape Coast Technical University.
He spoke on the topic”Unity and Re-vitalisation of Development in Oguaa: The Case of the Koto”.
“Crabs often move together in groups, representing the strength that comes from unity and collective action. This symbolism encourages communities to work together for the common good” he disclosed.
Surv. Professor Kwamina Bamfo-Agyei commended Osabarima Dr. Kwesi Atta II for his immense contributions to the development of Cape Coast including the rice factory in Cape Coast, China Mall, Cape Coast Teaching Hospital, Kotokoraba Market and some developmental projects within his(Osabarima) paramountcy.
He also called on the Central Regional Coordinating Council(CRCC) as a matter of urgency create an enabling environment to attract investors to troop in to do more business rather than sending it to other regions.
On his part, Osabarima Dr. Kwesi Atta II expressed a heartfelt appreciation to the management of the CCTU for the recognition and his commitment and contributions to bring development in the area.
“I am particularly motivated by this honour done me by the University and this honour will go a long way to encourage me to do more to bring about absolute development to Oguaa to raise the image of the area,” he stated.
