Nsoatre clash: Psychological support for Pooley’s family as IGP visits bereaved relatives

The Ghana Police Service has assigned a psychologist to provide counseling for the wife and children of the late Kotoko Football Club fan, Francis Yaw Frimpong, popularly known as Pooley.

Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr. George Akuffo Dampare disclosed this during a visit to the deceased’s family at Asawase in Kumasi. He assured them of a thorough investigation into the incident and pledged that justice would be served.

Yaw Frimpong tragically lost his life after allegedly being stabbed during a football match between Asante Kotoko and Nsoatreman FC.

The IGP, accompanied by a team of investigators and senior police officers, visited the family to offer condolences and reaffirm the police service’s commitment to ensuring accountability in the case.

An earlier meeting with Asante Kotoko Interim Management Committee (IMC) was part of ongoing fact-finding investigations into the violent incident, which has sparked concerns about security at football matches.

Authorities are expected to take further action based on the findings of the committee.

“We want to use this opportunity to wish you our best of condolences…And we will do whatever it takes to get to the bottom of this matter. As we reported yesterday, we have arrested three people so far. They are still being interrogated, and this would lead to some arrests and so we must say that we have something to move on”, the IGP assured the IMC.
