National Security Ministry denies involvement in alleged abduction of Emirates Manager

The Ministry of National Security has strongly denied allegations by the Herald Newspaper that officers from the Ministry and the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) were involved in the alleged abduction of Sylvia Baah, the manager of Emirates Airlines at Kotoka International Airport.

On 22 November the police announced an investigation into claims of Mrs. Baah’s kidnapping, which reportedly occurred at the entrance of her residence in Accra on 21 November 21. However, the police later confirmed that the victim had been found and reunited with her family.

The Herald suggested that operatives within the national security apparatus were complicit in Mrs Baah’s disappearance.

In a press release issued on 25 November, the Ministry categorically refuted these claims, describing them as baseless and urging the public to dismiss the allegations.

“The Ministry wishes to categorically state that no officer from the Ministry or the National Intelligence Bureau was involved in the alleged abduction of Sylvia Baah,” the statement read.

The Ministry also assured the public that thorough investigations into the matter are ongoing and emphasized that anyone found culpable would face the full extent of the law.
