MTN Ghana has donated GHC15,000 to the Dagbon Kingdom as part of its contributions to this year’s Damba Festival.
The telecom giant also provided airtime worth GHC2,000, some assorted drinks and bottled water.
MTN’s support extended to key festival activities, including the intercommunity gala and the Grand Durbar, both of which attract thousands of participants annually.
Speaking during the presentation, Kwami Aseye Akude, MTN regional manager for the Northern Regions, highlighted the importance of African festivals in celebrating rich cultural traditions and fostering unity.
“Festivals like Damba reveal a lot about our society and bring out the best in us as African people,” Akude stated.
“MTN, being an African company, places great value on the traditions and heritage of our people, and that’s why we continue to support these celebrations across the country.”
He added, “We are hopeful that our small token will go a long way to enrich the celebration and ensure its success.”
In addition to the donations, MTN set up experiential centres in the town to offer festivalgoers an opportunity to explore its wide range of products and services.
The centres also served as educational hubs, where customers could learn how to protect themselves from mobile money fraud.
“We are using this platform to educate our customers about mobile money fraud, which has been affecting a number of our users. This will be one of the ongoing activities throughout the festival,” Akude explained.
MTN expressed its gratitude for the longstanding relationship with the Dagbon Kingdom and reiterated its commitment to a continued partnership that benefits both the company and the community.
