Ashanti Regional Minister designate promises economic growth and completion of projects

Ashanti Region’s newly appointed Minister Designate, Dr. Frank Amoakohene, is wasting no time in setting the tone for his tenure under President John Dramani Mahama.

Dr. Amoakohene outlined his commitment to reviving and completing key development projects, placing a strong emphasis on the Asanteman Development Fund as his primary initiative during an interview on Kumasi-based Nhyira FM monitored by MyNewsGH.

Reflecting on his extensive engagement with local communities leading up to the 2024 elections, the new minister shared insights into the region’s pressing needs.

“During my interactions with the people, I was struck by their desire for economic stability and a better quality of life,” Dr. Amoakohene said, recalling the many conversations with residents from diverse communities. He added that the economic concerns of the people, particularly regarding the rising cost of living, were voiced consistently during these encounters.

Dr. Amoakohene expressed a clear determination to address these concerns. “The people are eager for financial opportunities that will stimulate business and create jobs. I am committed to making sure that we create avenues for sustainable economic growth,” he declared.

Beyond addressing the region’s immediate economic challenges, the new minister also laid out plans for unfinished projects that have been left in limbo by previous administrations. “It is imperative that we finish what was started.

There are numerous projects that were abandoned, but under my leadership, we will ensure that they are completed,” he affirmed. The Asanteman Development Fund, which he plans to spearhead, will be a crucial part of this effort.

Dr. Amoakohene’s focus includes vital healthcare infrastructure, notably the long-delayed Okomfo Anokye Hospital. “

This is a significant project for the people of Ashanti Region. It has been neglected for too long, and I intend to work closely with the government to ensure it is completed,” he assured.

With the weight of his promises resting on his shoulders, Dr. Amoakohene is keen on breaking away from the all-too-common political tradition of disregarding ongoing projects from previous governments.
