Former Member of Parliament for Subin, Eugene Boakye Antwi, has indicated that currently, the New Patriotic Party has lost its tag as the “better managers of the economy.”.
According to him, this was made possible by the former government under the leadership of Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, who sat and watched Ken Ofori Atta destroy the Ghanaian economy.
To Eugene Boakye Antwi, the DDEP that brought about hardship among Ghanaian pensioners was the height of it.
“In elections we are known as better managers of the economy. When all the chips are down, you expect the NPP to come up. That is why most Ghanaians lost trust in the NPP when they realized that the economy was going south.
The party is made up of businessmen but now if these people are leaving in droves either they won’t vote at all or they are going to vote for the NDC, then you know you have a problem because you are losing that touch that is why some of us confronted the president to change the finance minister because there are others who can do better. The cedi kept depreciating; prices of things were going high but there was no increase in salaries,” he said.
