On the Honest Brunch podcast, Kanayo O. Kanayo, one of Nollywood’s iconic actors, expressed concerns about the escalating fees of popular actors and the challenges they pose to filmmakers.
“You reach out to certain actors, and they demand exorbitant amounts, claiming no availability until next year.
It’s an opportunity for us to start discovering the untapped talents waiting in the wings,” Kanayo emphasized.
He pointed out the over-reliance on a few “fine faces” for YouTube-focused content and stressed that platforms like Amazon Prime and Netflix require diverse talent.
“Just because a face sells on YouTube doesn’t mean it will succeed on all platforms,” he explained.
Kanayo revealed his personal initiative to uplift budding actors through his production house, Simplicity Associate Productions.
“I might be losing money now, but it’s an investment in the future of Nollywood.”
