Ghana’s captain for the day, Mohammed Kudus, missed a last-minute penalty that would have seen Ghana draw at home against Niger in the AFCON 2025 qualifier.

The game ended in a 2-1 defeat but was an opportunity for some local players who were invited by coach Otto Addo to have their debut games.

Ghana’s only goal in the game was scored by Division Three Side Thoughts FC’s striker Jerry Afriyie.

However, goals from Ousseini Badamassi and Oumar Sako were enough for Niger to carry the day.

This loss means Ghana came last in the group that had Angola, Sudan, and Niger as competitors.

Meanwhile, the Ghana Football Association will meet on the Black Stars performance during the AFCON qualification series and will decide on the fate of Otto Addo who has managed on two wins in ten games.
