Mid-Year Budget Review: Government not seeking supplementary funding this year, says Amin Adam

The Minister for Finance, Mohammed Amin Adam, has said the government is not seeking supplementary funding for the rest of the year.

Presenting the 2024 Mid-Year Budget Review in Parliament on Tuesday (23 July), Amin Adam said the government is determined to be more strategic and intentional to promote growth.

“Mr Speaker the development in key operations for the economy, as at mid-year has prompted a shift in some of the assumptions that underpinned the 2024 Budget presented in November 2023.

“There have been changes in amortisation, interest cost due to the external debt operations and disbursement forecast for externally funded projects, in this regard, we will remain in the appropriation for 2024.”

“Accordingly, Mr Speaker, we are not seeking supplementary funds in this Mid-Year Review, we are determined to be more efficient, strategic and intentional to enrich and entrench fiscal consolidation and strongly promote growth,” Amin Adam said.
