The Appointments Committee of Parliament has commenced public hearings to vet nominees for ministerial and regional ministerial positions, following their nomination by President John Dramani Mahama.
This process, carried out in line with Article 78(1) of the 1992 Constitution, plays a crucial role in evaluating and approving key government appointments.
The vetting sessions have drawn considerable public interest, with numerous individuals visiting Parliament to observe the proceedings. In response, Parliament has implemented measures to ensure the safety and security of Members of Parliament, staff, and the general public.
To manage the high turnout and maintain order, access to the venue has been restricted. Only individuals with invitation cards or valid accreditation will be allowed into the Committee room and Parliament’s precincts.
For those unable to attend, Parliament has partnered with various media outlets to broadcast the sessions live, allowing the public to follow proceedings remotely. This initiative ensures transparency and encourages broad participation while balancing public engagement with security requirements.
Parliament remains committed to an open and orderly vetting process, underscoring its dedication to accountability and good governance.
