The Electoral Commission (EC) of Ghana has officially announced the timeline and requirements for the 2025 Council of State elections.
In a press release issued today, Wednesday, January 22, the EC confirmed that elections will be held across all regional capitals on Tuesday, February 11, 2025.
“Qualified persons who intend to stand for the said elections should submit their nomination forms with two copies of a recent bust-sized photograph against a red background showing their full face and ears,” the EC stated.
According to the press release, nomination forms will be available for download on the Commission’s website and must be completed in triplicate.
Aspiring candidates are required to submit their forms to the Regional Directors of the EC in their respective regions between Tuesday, January 28, and Friday, January 31, 2025. Submissions can be made between 9:00 am and 12:00 pm, as well as 2:00 pm and 5:00 pm daily.
The EC emphasized the requirements for nominations, stating, “Nominations must be proposed and seconded by two registered voters in the region and supported by twenty other registered voters from the region.
The candidate must consent to their nomination for election as a Member of the Council of State.”
The press release further reiterated that completed nomination forms must be delivered to the designated offices of the Regional Directors of the Electoral Commission within the specified timeframe.
